Carnevale di bambini
By PAMELA HASTEROK with photos by DON LINDLEY
In Monopoli, Carnevale's Fat Tuesday was mostly for "di bambini" - kids and babies. Costumed children accompanied by parents gathered mid-afternoon at the main town square. School kids danced on stage and were "singin' in the rain" (in English) on a sunny day. The square's resident merry-go-round and bumper car ride ran nonstop. Confetti was sold by the bag and was literally everywhere. Even with no floats, no booze and no half-naked women, everyone had a great time at this year's carnevale.
Such lovely pictures!!!
